We don't have things completely worked out as of this moment, but chances are excellent we'll be returning to Milne Bay in the Spring of 2004!  So watch this page over the next few weeks for the first announcement of our 2004 Papua New Guinea Milne Bay dive tour program.  This is one of our very favorite and most popular destinations and these will be Limited Participation Tours, so you may want to call our office and get on the waiting list to be called as soon as the particulars are finalized.  There's no obligation!

Birgitte Wilms inducted into the Women Divers Hall of Fame

Hey, that's no surprise to me.  Birgitte's always been tops in my personal Hall of Fame, (along with my mother of course!) But now she's been similarly recognized by a larger and no doubt a more significant audience not for her incalculable and heroic contributions to my comfort and happiness, but for her contributions to the diving world in the field of The Arts.  She was thus honored at the 26th Annual Beneath the Sea Undersea Exposition in New Jersey on March 22, 2002, joining many of the world's past and present leading women in the field of diving.  Not bad for someone who is just 36 years old (and blonde!)

Three Week Galapagos Program for 2003!

It is the ultimate in big game diving, home to the most astounding shark schooling activity in the world.  It is a place where the multi-layered fish schools can block out the sun, where you can dive with orcas, immerse yourself in a school of 10,000 tuna, or watch in awe as a 45 ft. whale shark glides by.  At the end of the day, you can walk in Darwin's footsteps on islands choked with wildlife.  There is no place like Galapagos  Join us in

Chris Newbert receives First Annual Wyland Foundation Award for Underwater Still Photography

Chris Newbert joins Jacques Cousteau, Lloyd Bridges, Dr. Sylvia Earle, Jimmy Buffet, and others as special inaugural honorees

Chris became the first recipient of the Wyland Foundation Award for Underwater Still Photography at the First Annual Wyland Foundation Awards Ceremony in Hollywood.  This nationally televised extravaganza featured celebrity presenters from the entertainment and sports industry.  Chris not only received this prestigious award, but his photographs were selected for the big screen background stills for this gala  event.  Other honored personalities included posthumous awards to Jacques Yves Cousteau and Lloyd Bridges.  Living recipients in addition to Chris included Jimmy Buffet, Sting, Dr. Sylvia Earle, Ted Danson, Dan Fogelberg, Bob Talbot and Al Gore among others.

Chris Newbert and Birgitte Wilms honored as the first underwater photographers ever to receive a feature portfolio in the Photography Yearbook 1998

For over 50 years the Photography Yearbook has featured the work of the world's finest photographers, and is generally considered the single most important volume of photography published annually. The 1997 edition drew material from over 10,000 submissions from 28 countries. Out of the some 200 hundred photos published in each volume, a select few photographers are distinguished with major feature portfolios. For the first time in the history of this prestigious publication, the work of not one, but two underwater photographers has been honored with a feature portfolio.
