What do you do for excitement after your millionth spectacular photo of great white sharks, sperm whales, basking sharks, blue whales, sei whales and just about any else that swims and could be mistaken by the layperson for an underwater Goodyear blimp? You turn your attention to the other extreme, to the smaller, subtler treasures the ocean has to offer. Or so it seems for monster marine life photo master Douglas Seifert. Having let his 2x teleconverter serve admirably as a paper weight for the first couple of years after he bought it from us, he finally decided to try it. Doug eventually located his 50mm macro lens, dusted it off, read the directions on how to remove the lens cap and other essential skills required to take pictures with this foreign object, mounted the 2x teleconverter and lens to his camera and... |

... the rest is history. Practically on his first roll of film with his 2x teleconverter, while on a dive trip with us in Galapagos, Douglas photographed a pink frogfish that, yes, Birgitte had to point out to him. This shot competed with thousands of entries and WON the National Wildlife Photo Contest! Now, I know what you are thinking. I sell him the lens, we take him on a dive trip, Birgitte finds him the subject... shouldn't it be us who won the contest??? All Doug did at that point was push the dern button fer crying out loud! My thinking exactly. I was ready to file a formal protest when I next found out that Douglas had also won not one, not two, but count `em, three awards in the 2000 Papua New Guinea Photo Contest. Of the portfolio of 5 shots submitted by all contestants, Doug entered two wide angle shots and three macro shots. All his macro shots were taken with the 2x teleconverter. And all three 2x teleconverter shots won prizes! So, I'm forced to admit that Doug can obviously function on his very own. Yes, he's a great photographer. But great photographers need superb equipment, and no great photographer would settle for using anything less than the very best optics available. That's way Doug (finally) uses our 2x teleconverter. |

Underwater photography is not golf (thank goodness!) There is no handicap system. The only way you can level the playing field is to use the same equipment the pros use. If you shoot with a Nikonos RS or a Subeye Reflex, the RS 50mm macro lens combined with our 2x Teleconverter is an award winning combination. Just ask Douglas! (Then call us to order yours.) |
