M/V Sky Dancer
In 2001 a new luxury live aboard dive boat was introduced to the Galapagos. The 100 ft. steel hull Sky Dancer now offers visiting divers the finest combination of guest accommodations, comfort, dive deck space, plus superior facilities for the underwater photographer.
We are able to provide the invaluable option of on board E-6 film processing to our guests as well as full Nitrox service for Nitrox certified divers (extra charge applies). Each of her 8 double cabins features a private head and shower. Other highlights include a 1,500 gallon per day desalinization plant, 6,000 gallon water capacity, an ice maker, outdoor covered lounge plus an exposed sun deck, a comfortable indoor lounge area with stereo music system, color TV monitor for viewing underwater videos, and slide projector and slide screen. Two turbo diesels speed the Sky Dancer to our most remote dive sites at 12 knots, while a GPS satellite system, color radar, echo sounder, VHF, GMDSS, SSB and weather fax assure we travel with state of the art navigation and communications equipment. Two generators assure 24 hour a day 110/220V AC and 12V electricity while twin Bauer K-14 electric compressors provide fast, reliable air refills. The Sky Dancer boasts two 21.5 ft. Zodiac dive MK V dive tenders (pangas), each powered by a low exhaust 40 hp 4-stroke outboard engine. At least one panga will always remain on the dive site while the second panga may shuttle divers to or from the mother ship. Each panga has a stainless steel boarding ladder on the stern
As a final measure of class and commitment to safety, all divers aboard Sky Dancer are provided with EPIRB (Electronic Position Indicating Radio Beacon) locators, whereby a lost diver can be located on the surface from the Sky Dancer with a radio direction finder.
