Galapagos for Spring 2003

three-week tour rules!

New boat!

We're long overdue to return to the Galapagos, and we're doing it in style!  From March 8 through March 31, we will be in the Galapagos diving from the new Peter Hughes Galapagos boat, the Sky Dancer.  Yes, this is one of our unique, three-week charters and we and our guests will enjoy 21 nights on board this fabulous 100 ft. boat, plus 20 straight days of diving in the world's most spectacular big animal showcase!  This generous itinerary will allow us extensive time in the northern islands, well known as the world's epicenter of shark schooling action.  To assure we hit it at it's best, we will likely make two

different treks up north, both toward the beginning and toward the end of our tour. In between, we will have ample time to sample the amazing diversity that has helped place Galapagos in its unassailable spot atop the roster of great dive destinations on this planet. Sure, the hammerhead sharks will dazzle you, but the schools of eagle rays, schools of golden rays, manta rays, the tens of thousands of tuna and jacks, the whales and whale sharks, the sea lions, the fur seals, the

orcas, the marlin, the dolphin, the barracuda, the curtains of creole fish, the massive shoals of salemas, shimmering schools of steel pompanos, the turtles, the marine iguanas... shall I go on?  Let's not forget the great close-up subjects, with frogfish, rosey-lipped batfish, magnificent scallops, pike blennies, seahorse, arrow crabs, nudibranchs and much, much more. When the occasion arises, we will also visit the cream of the Galapagos land visits. But be advised, this is primarily a dive trip, and land visits will always take a back seat to our dive itinerary.  Even scheduled land tours may be canceled if we have hit the jackpot at a particular dive site. One of the dramatic aspects of diving Galapagos is the very real fact that anything and everything can happen any place and any time.  Never have we dived a destination with more unpredictable, heart-stopping action!

We'll be stylin'!

The new boat...
As noted, we will be using the Sky Dancer.  She is the queen of the Galapagos live-aboard fleet and in a class of her own.  She takes 16 guests in 8 luxury staterooms, but of course we will not be filling the boat to capacity.  This is a .

Limited Participation tour, and we will take no more than 12 diving guests.  This tour, like all our tours, will feature the Chris Newbert and Birgitte Wilms Underwater Photography Slide Show Seminar Series and Personal Photography Consultation.  We are there to help you if we can, and our slides shows are designed as infotainment, intended to be fun, visually stunning, and chock full of helpful photo hints.  As well, this is a

Photo Pro Tour, and we will be making all the itinerary decisions based on our judgement of where we will find the finest and most unique photo opportunities.  That may mean spending many days in a row in a single spot because we are inundated with action. It may mean skipping planned stops because we are finding unique action in an unexpected place. Our motto might be,  Photo Ops Rule!, and that is how we will run this tour
